SONY PRESENTS FIRST CYBER-SHOT CAMERA WITH SWEEP PANORAMA TECHNOLOGY

Sony have this cool new camera with the "sweep" Feature. If you can imagine a row of twenty people posing to get a group picture,  you hold the camera up to take a shot and can only see five people. Problem ?? No... Simply move the camera from left to right or right to left, as if to scan across all the people, hey presto you have taken a panoramic picture with all twenty people in the shot.Thanks Asain people you did it again.

I have to admit I am getting excited about getting my IPad at The_Westchester Mall this weekend.

My friend Dave who's friend is called Dave Lipp is the CEO and Managing Editor of the blog www.shortandsweetnyc.com. We got chatting today for a while about our blogs and stuff and hopfully I can get some good advise.
Compiled by people who have been there, they are dedicated to bringing you daily listings of music and events paired with food and drink in NYC, and all within walking distance of each other. Not just THE place to find out about interesting events, they are also addicted to turning you on to great music, food, bars, booze, and all the fun stuff that you're looking to do in NYC. Most of all, at Short and Sweet NYC, all of our reviews are just that, short and sweet. Who wants to read a thesis when you just want to know the facts?

Chillwave Music

 

So there is a big buzz about the new genre in music called "Chillwave". To me basically it is the fact that so called indie bands have become so successful and popular that there needs to be an underground form of music that is totally independant. Myself and Craig who is a music producer in Brooklyn had a wee chat today about it and we where trying to pinpoint the term "Chillwave" So here it is and a tune by Toro Y Moi to help make sense of it all.

Chillwave (also referred to as glo-fi) is a term used to describe a genre of post-music that emerged when some guy with access to the internet invented a new word. It is characterized by heavy use of effects processing, synthesizers, looping, sampling, and heavily filtered vocals with simple melodic lines. Its musical predecessors include the synthpop of the 1980s, shoegaze^[1], ambient, and various types of world music. Chillwave is notably different from those influences because it often produced by outsider musicians recording in home studios.^[1]

The term was coined in July 2009 by Carles, creator of the blog Hipster Runoff.^[2] In a post about Washed Out, Carles listed many potential names, including "no-fi" and "ChillHouse" but decided on "Chillwave" as most representative of the sound of artists such as Washed Out.^[3]

It has been suggested that chillwave is a response to 2008's day-glo scene, which was characterized by more aggressive club music.^[4]

Some of the early chillwave albums include Universal Studios Florida's Ocean Sunbirds, Big Spider's Back's Warped, Nite Jewel's Good Evening. Other bands of the genre include Neon Indian, Memory Tapes, Blissed Out, By Bye Blackbird, MillionYoung, Small Black, The Pillars Of Creation, Chill Murray, Chill Pullman, Ducktails, Lone, Toro Y Moi, Washed Out, Lester Brown, Soft Slip, and Corona Lite.^[1][4]

Phil Thomas Katt is considered to be the 'godfather of chillwave.' Influences can be clearly heard on the 1993 album, "Curious."

For a couple of weeks before the walk I was annoying people looking for sponsorship money and I managed to get the guts of one thousand dollars which is a little shitty but it's better than a face full of feces I guess.

MS Walk 2010

Yesterday was the MS Walk 2010 which is basically a six mile walk to raise awareness about the disease and to raise money to go towards research to find a cure and to help people suffering from the disease.
I'd say there was probably five thousand people at least that did the walk. You choose either a six or a three mile walk, we choose the six mile walk which brought us across the Brooklyn Bridge and back.
